The Northeast Commercial Paper Recycling Project was initiated in FY 2010 to focus on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions tied to the manufacturer, transport, and disposal of paper generated by commercial facilities. See Project Background for more information on the connection between GHG emissions and paper and the origins of the Project. NEWMOA formed a Commercial Paper Recycling Workgroup that includes representatives from the northeast states' recycling, solid waste, and economic development programs, EPA Regions 1 and 2, and the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) to oversee the Project. NEWMOA held a Commercial Paper Recycling Stakeholder Summit in July 2010 to gather ideas for significantly increasing commercial paper recycling by generators.
