Session 1: Carbon Footprint Assessments - What & Why

This first session covered the "what" and "why" of conducting a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory or carbon footprint analysis.  In addition, the session provided key concepts and resources to support the business case for climate action and the importance of good analysis as a springboard for climate action. Introduction - 10 min.
Presenter: Michelle Gaither, Environmental Engineer, PPRC
Ms. Gaither has an M.S. in Environmental Science and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. The two disciplines complement each other in identifying and addressing pollution prevention opportunities for industry. Recently, Ms. Gaither acquired her certificate of proficiency in three courses of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute's E-Learning program: Introduction to Carbon Markets; Basics of Organizational GHG Accounting; and Basics of Project-Level GHG Accounting. 

Greenhouse Gas Inventory Purpose, Concepts, & Tools - 1 hr. 5 min.
Presenter: Josh Skov, Principal and Co-founder, Good Company
Mr. Skov supports clients with the development of sustainability indicators and assessment tools in addition to climate change and greenhouse gas inventory methodology. He is involved in a wide range of corporate and government client work serving the electric utility, renewable energy, waste management, and transportation industries. He helps clients in understanding how the challenge of sustainability relates to their organizations, assessing social and environmental performance, and implementing measures to address these emerging issues.
