The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Northeast Recycling Council (NERC), and NEWMOA joined together to organize this webinar. The presentations provided an in-depth examination of multiple aspects of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), including innovations that reduce the environmental impacts of operations in recycling, reuse, and recovery of valuable materials. The presenters included:

Dr. Yan Wang, William Smith Foundation Dean’s Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, on “The Challenges and Opportunities of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling” [PDF]

Dr. Chao Yan, CEO, Princeton NuEnergy Inc. on “Innovations in Lithium-ion Battery Recycling: Fewer Emissions, Less Energy Use, and Lower Cost” [PDF]

Dr. Wen Zhang, Associate Professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology on “Extraction of Lithium and Cobalt from Spent LIBs and Waste Prevention” [PDF]
