The webinar was presented for informational purposes. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of each of the NEWMOA-member states, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members.
The webinar focused on overcoming characterization and remediation challenges specific to bedrock sites. Developing an accurate conceptual site model (CSM) is a critical first step in the remediation process. Some of the key aspects of CSM development at bedrock sites include identifying the rock type, delineating the source mass, characterizing the fracture network, and understanding the groundwater flow regime. For in situ remediation at bedrock sites, the treatment technology and amendment delivery methods require careful consideration. Two case studies were presented that demonstrate how well-developed CSMs were leveraged to implement successful remediation approaches at complex bedrock sites.
