Important IMERC 2010 Triennial Reporting Information - Change to Reporting Deadline

Later this year, the Interstate Mercury Education and Reduction Clearinghouse (IMERC) will be launching an online e-filing system for the reporting of mercury-added product information. The system will be available for companies to comply with the 2010 triennial reporting period. This new e-filing system will replace the paper Mercury-added Product Notification Forms used during prior triennial reporting periods.

Features of the new e-filing system will include:

    • Company access to past Notification Form submissions
    • Built-in data checks to prevent submission errors and reduce the need for multiple letters to address corrections
    • Quicker publishing of data to the Mercury-added Products Database
    • Online access to IMERC approval letters and communications
    • Online help

During past triennial reporting periods, IMERC Notification Forms were due by April 1st of the year following the reporting period (e.g., April 1, 2008 for the 2007 Triennial period). This year, the deadline will be pushed back from April 1st until summer 2011 to allow adequate time for system development. In early spring, IMERC will provide a notice about the launch of the e-filing system, including specific reporting deadlines, using this listserv and the IMERC website. The e-filing system will enable companies to comply with the Mercury-added Product Notification requirements of Connecticut, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. For more information about IMERC or the states’ Notification requirements, visit: http://www.newmoa.org/prevention/mercury/imerc.cfm.

IMERC is seeking assistance from companies to test the new e-filing system while it is under development. If your company is interested, please contact Adam Wienert, IMERC Coordinator at .

    State Product Phase-outs and Bans

Since the 2007 Triennial reporting period, a number of IMERC-member states have initiated bans or phased-out the sale of certain mercury-added products. For a complete list of these restrictions by product category and state (including non-IMERC members), visit: http://www.newmoa.org/prevention/mercury/imerc/banphaseout.cfm.

If you have received an approved exemption to these bans from any state listed above, please note you must continue to provide notification information for those products.

New Mercury-added Products Database Interface - 2007 Notification Data Now Available

IMERC has launched a new interface for accessing the Mercury-added Product Database at: http://www.newmoa.org/prevention/mercury/imerc/Notification/index.cfm.

Users are able to search the database by product category and by company. The newly designed database includes nearly all of the approved mercury-added product information received during the 2007 triennial reporting period. IMERC anticipates the remaining information will be available by mid-February 2011.

Changes in Reporting Personnel or Company Status

If the contact responsible for mercury-added product reporting has changed in your company, your company information has changed, or you no longer produce mercury-added products, please contact Adam Wienert, IMERC Coordinator at to inform him about the change.
